Made during an arts residency at La Coyotera Studio Workshop in
Umécuaro, Michoacan, Mexico. This artwork doesnt want to be an ornament,
rather a dialogue around the mass tourism and its relation with environment,
through the superposition of materials: the pool tile, an industrial production
material intimately related totourism, is covering a dry tree, branches and rocks,
invading the landscape. The shape of this intervention is based in the strangling
fig tree, a tropicalparasite tree that grows on other trees, wraping them with its
roots until they die. Thus, the piece seeks to question the development of the
frivolous tourism that invades my city, Puerto Vallarta, as this tile invades a tree,
a stone, a lake, a beach.
